The Myth Of Spot Reduction

In case you’re wondering “what is Spot Reduction?” (also sometimes reffered to as “Spot Burning”), it’s when a person is under the notion that they can slim down an area of their body by doing exercise to just that one specific area. For example: trying to slim down an overweight stomach by doing nothing but sit-ups. “Spot Reduction” is also claimed to be achievable by many products and infomercials. The most common products on the market that claim to ”shed pounds” from a certain area of your body are usually ab related, but there are certainly many different products trying to trick you.

  Let’s make this perfectly clear there is no such thing as “Spot Reduction”!

Your body has a pattern it follows when it comes to weight, the first place to put on weight is typically the last place to burn off. In men, the first area that usually plumps up is the abdomen. In women it’s typically the thighs, hips and buttocks.

The only real way to achieve the results you want in a specific area are to keep active and push yourself to work the hardest you can! With determination and total body exercise you WILL achieve the results you want!
